At the moment, many regions of our republic, including all districts and cities of Andijan region, are covered by thick fog. In some places, visibility on roads is reduced to 150-200 meters, seriously affecting traffic safety. Prevention of traffic accidents in such weather conditions requires especially high caution from drivers and strict adherence to rules.
After all, during fog, it becomes much more difficult for the driver to see the road, vehicles moving ahead and pedestrians in time. Therefore, what measures should be taken to ensure safe movement? We addressed this question to senior lieutenant Abdumajid Rayimjonov, senior specialist of the information service of the Road Traffic Safety Department of the Public Security Service of Andijan region.
- When thick fog falls, first of all, it is necessary to reduce the speed of movement in accordance with the weather and visibility conditions. Because driving at high speed in a limited visibility distance reduces the possibility of emergency stopping and increases the risk of an accident several times.
Also, it is important to turn on the near and far lights of the car in accordance with the traffic rules, to use special anti-fog headlights. Keeping a safe distance from the vehicle in front allows you to stop in time when an unexpected obstacle or situation occurs.
Sudden lane changes, sharp turns or illegal overtaking in foggy weather conditions are especially dangerous. Therefore, drivers should drive as steadily as possible and pay special attention to road signs, road lines and traffic lights.
If visibility is further reduced and it becomes unsafe to continue driving, it is recommended to park the vehicle in a safe place on the side of the road and wait for the weather to improve with the hazard lights on. Such caution serves to ensure the safety of not only the driver, but also all citizens participating in road traffic.
