May 9 - Day of Remembrance and Appreciation is a bright example of glorification of kindness between people in our country. This day is highly valued by our people as a memory and attention to appreciation. At the core of this event, the consciousness of our people embodies the virtue of remembering the dead and appreciating the living.
Paying respect to the memory of our ancestors, continuing their good deeds, strengthening peace and harmony in our society, honoring the elderly who serve the development of our country by their example has become an integral part of our life.
Celebrating the Day of Remembrance and Appreciation as a national holiday is a bright practical expression of preserving peace in our country, strengthening independence, commemorating the memory of those who died for the freedom of the Motherland, and caring for the war and labor veterans who are living safely among us today.
During World War II, about 6,800,000 of the population of our republic at that time
2 million people were mobilized to the front. Of these, 538,000 people died on the battlefields.
158,000 of our compatriots are missing, 100,000 more have not been found yet.

Every Uzbek who died in the war is a child of our Motherland

The more honorable and sacred the memory of our ancestors who sacrificed their lives for the country, nation, and religion is for us, the more important it is to appreciate and honor our elders who have reached old age.
In recent years, special attention has been paid to celebrating the national holiday of Remembrance and Appreciation in our country.Every year, the decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On encouraging the participants of the Second World War" and the decisions "On measures to prepare and hold the Day of Remembrance and Appreciation" are adopted. On this basis, on the occasion of this holiday, it is planned to give a one-time monetary reward of a certain amount to each of the participants of the Second World War and the disabled.
It is also decided to take appropriate measures to repair and beautify the residences and households of lonely and low-income World War II veterans, as well as to provide housing for those who do not have their own housing. All these cares shown by the state clearly demonstrate the practical aspect of the essence of appreciation in the context of the national holiday.
There is one great truth in this world: bravery and courage committed in the path of freedom, peace and happiness of future generations will remain forever in the memory of our people. Honoring the veterans of the war and the labor front, perpetuating their memory is always a sacred duty for us. Today we pay our respects to our veterans and heroes.
